Local hands qualify for National Junior High Rodeo
Following the State Junior High Rodeo held in Rapid City on May 19, a few local cowboys and cowgirls are packing up to head to Perry, Georgia to compete in the National Junior High Finals Rodeo June 18-24.
To qualify for the National Junior High Rodeo you must place top four in the event based off points accumulated from the two regional rodeos and state.
Locals qualifying and thier placings are: Mikena Sterkel second in goat tying; Madi Waln fourth in girls breakaway and second in pole bending; Charlee Richardson and her partner JP Jensen first in ribbon roping; Tayce Tetrault and her partner Revyn Floyd second in ribbon roping; and Gavin Fransua and his partner Dalton Grimes first in team roping.
Gavin Fransua and Charlee Richardson were state champions in their events.
