Beverly Winters

October 13, 1954 - July 16, 2023

Beverly (Bev) Ann Elizabeth Kehr Fancher Winters was born on October 13, 1954, to Richard H. and Mary Ann (Simons) Kehr. She was the fifth of eight living children, growing up in the small town of Nenzel, NE.

Bev attended school in Nenzel through the eighth grade with her siblings and cousins. Bev attended St. Mary’s Catholic boarding school in New England, ND, for her first year of high school, returning home to graduate from Cody-Kilgore Unified schools. On July 3, 1971, she married Gary Dal Fancher. They were married for 32 years and had three children. Toni Ann (Fancher) Vogel, Tim Richard Fancher, and Travis Dal Fancher. Beverly had five grandchildren, Kent Allan Vogel, Jadyn Dal Fancher, Tyson James Fancher, Ethan James Fancher, and Kali Ann Fancher. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and there was nothing that she enjoyed more in life than spending time with her family. In October 2005; Gary passed away. In addition to being a loving daughter, mom, sister, and Grammy, Bev was a great friend to many and a hard worker. Many will remember Bev serving them coffee, breakfast, and lunch at the Hacienda Restaurant for over 19 years. She was a great waitress, quick with jokes or comebacks from the “regulars” she served daily. Bev proved her customer service skills and ability to change when she started working in the parts department of Modern Farm. Her people skills served her well in this position until she was forced to retire due to her illness. On June 25, 2008, Bev married Gary Winters. They were married for 15 years until she lost her battle with cancer on July 16, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Bev loved life and music. Growing up in Nenzel, family time was the center of growing up. It included fishing, singing, and dancing with her parents, siblings, and often extended family during holiday gatherings. Bev’s faith was an essential part of her life. She was baptized, confirmed, and married in her faith community of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nenzel. Bev worked hard, played hard, and loved mightily! She was a loving daughter, sister, auntie, mom, wife, and grammy, and will be greatly missed I Her parents, Dick (Richard) and Mary Ann Kehr preceded her in death, and sisters, Carolyn Lucero, Francis Stecher, and Virginia Ellis. Bev is survived by her husband, Gary Winters; all of her children and grandchildren; one sister, Mary Van Winkle (Orin); brothers, Robert Kehr,_ Nick Kehr (Anita), and John Kehr (Katrina); nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
