Luis Saunders

December 15, 1989 - June 14, 2023

Luis Saunders was born December 15, 1989 to Samuel and Irene Saunders. He was later joined by his sister Carla. Luis was always expressive and affectionate. As he grew, he developed strong interests. One was soccer: he practiced and practiced. In his adolescent and young adult years in Martin S.D., if you saw him walking anywhere, he was kicking a soccer ball between his feet. He also enjoyed guitar. Writing lyrics was a creative outlet, and he enjoyed practicing alone or playing with his friends in Minneapolis, where he later lived. He put the same energy into his relationships as he did his interests. He was loyal, compassionate, and he used humor to lift the spirits of anyone around him. Any situation would be an occasion to bring in humor. He would dance silly dances, wear silly hats, or do anything to bring a smile to those around him. When you were with him, you knew he really cared. Luis will always be remembered as a friend who would be there for you whether you needed a lift or a laugh. But the soul lives forever.

A mass will be celebrated for Luis on Friday, August 25, at 10:30 a.m. at the Catholic Church in Martin, with a Rosary the evening before at 6:30 p.m.
