John “Dhose” Dillon, Jr.

John “Dhose” Dillon, Jr. was born on March 26, 1948, in Pine Ridge, S.D. to John Dillon, Sr. and Bertha (Bettelyoun) Dillon. John made his journey to the Spirit World on December 27, 2022, at the Bennett County Hospital in Martin.

John is survived by his wife, Thelma Shangreaux; children, Tammy Dillon, Jude Dillon, Sissy Jo Three Stars, Ben Marshall, Amber Siers, Joseph Marshall, Jr., Tish Shangreaux, Jacoby Marshall, Cecelia Cottier, Charlie Cottier, Francis Pack, and Renee Mousseaux; brothers, Lyle Dillon and Craig (Bonnie) Dillon; sisters, Illa Lone Hill, Linda (Keith) Dillon-Louden, Iva Jo Ruff, and Donnell (Tom Fast Wolf, Jr.) Red Eyes; aunt, Eva Martinez; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, & cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John, Sr. and Bertha Dillon; grandson, Jesse Roy Dillon; son, Matthew Shangreaux; maternal grandparents, George and Angeline (Richards) Bettelyoun; sister, Cindy Red Eyes; brother, Jerome Black Eyes; brother-in-law, Francis “Sonny” Ruff; nephew, Lyle Oliver Dillon; and numerous aunts and uncles.

A one night wake service began at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, at the Martin Activity Center in Martin, with evening services  at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, at the Martin Activity Center in Martin with Pastor John Poff officiating and Justin Poor Bear performing the traditional Lakota services.

Burial services were held at the Grace Cemetery, Martin.
