Provisional Budget passed by commissioners

At a special meeting of the Bennett County Board of Commissioners held Friday, July 28, commissioners tackled the 2024 budget. Acting Auditor Linay Little Eagle informed the commissioners that expected revenue was estimated at $3,075,736. Total appropriations were $3,409,130 with a net means of finance at $3,434,448.95. Approximately $360,000 in American Rescue Plan monies was earmarked for salaries. The provisional budget will be posted in the legal section of the Bennett County Booster in August with a public hearing scheduled in September.

In other business the commissioners agreed to compensate Linay Little Eagle $9,930 for her hours worked as the temporary, acting auditor. One executive session was held with Linay Little Eagle and justified under SDCL 1-25-2(1), personnel, compensation for auditor hours. The meeting was concluded and the next meeting of the Bennett County Commissioners will be August 2 at 9:30 a.m.
