Nomination certificates filed, no election April 13

There will be no city or school board election in Martin this April as certificates of nomination were filed to fill the appropriate vacancies.

Petitions were available at the City Office, as well as the School District Office for circulation on January 29, 2021. All of the offices being vacated were due to expiration of terms. The deadline to submit a petition was Friday, February 26.

Martin City Mayor – at large position for a two (2)year term. Incumbent Gary Rayhill will retain his seat as Mayor for an additional two years.

Martin City Council – Ward 1 – one two (2) year term. Incumbent Cecilia Moffitt will retain her seat as Councilwoman for an additional two years.

Martin City Council – Ward 2 – one two (2) year term. Incumbent Kevin Rascher will retain his seat as Councilman for an additional two years.

Martin City Council – Ward 2 – one (1) year term. Lindsee Harris will be filling incumbent Shirley McCue’s seat as Councilwoman for a one year term.

Martin City Council – Ward 3 – one (2) year term. Jay Yohner will be filling incumbent Walter York’s seat as Councilman for a two year term.

Two vacating positions on the Bennett County School District Board, both for  three (3) year terms were incumbents Josh Fanning and Scott Huber. Both Fanning and Huber submitted certificates of nomination and will hold their positions on the board for three more years.
