Small percentage of voters cast votes in Bennett County

With only 639 votes cast out of 1,813 registered voters in Bennett County, a mere 35.24%, below are the unofficial results of the Primary Election.

Countywide, Joe Biden, 121 votes defeated Bernie Sanders, 55 votes. On the statewide level, Biden took precedence receiving 33,223 votes over Sanders’ 10,063.

An extremely close race in Bennett County resulted in Mike Rounds receiving 206 votes defeating Scyller Borglum with 202 votes for U.S. Senator. Rounds easily defeated Borglum with 63,012 votes to Borglum’s 21,371 votes on the statewide level. 

Liz Marty May defeated Dusty Johnson 317 votes to 96 countywide for U.S. Representative. Johnson easily defeated May on the statewide level 63,903 to 20,248 votes.

The County Commissioner at Large race resulted in David Bakley receiving 199 votes and Kyle Harris, 194 votes. They will advance to the general election. Blu Donovan gathered 157 votes, Scott Divan 156 votes and Veldon Thayer, 50 votes.

Michael Olson, 451 votes along with Todd Alexander, 415 votes won the School Board seats over Iva Jo Ruff with 210 votes.

The voter turnout was not only down countywide but statewide saw only 24.5% voting.
