After raising her family, Barb Ireland returned to school and graduated from Oglala Lakota College with a degree in Nursing. The year was 1993.
Twenty years later, Barb is retiring and packing for the warmer climate of Gold Canyon, Arizona, with her husband, Roy.
Barb has been a registered nurse at Bennett County Hospital since graduation, with the last ten years being spent with Home Health. At her retirement celebration, Barb was given a bouquet of flowers and a special jacket. “The jacket is already packed and ready to go!” she laughed.
She and Roy have spent their lives ranching, farming and raising their family. They will be returning from Arizona in April to enjoy the summer in Bennett County.
Their family includes Traci Ireland, who lives in Ketchum, Idaho; Steve Ireland, who lives in Rapid City with his daughter, Kennedy; and Chad and Trisha Ireland, who are on the home ranch near Martin.
